Deputy Licensing Officer (12 months maternity cover)

Job Description

As the statutory harbour authority for the tidal Thames, the Port of London Authority grants consent for all structures and dredging, in, on, over and under the River. The Licensing Manager, to whom this post reports, administers the processes involved with the processing of applications and the determination and issue of licences.

Duties will include administering the application process, ensuring appropriate internal and external consultation on all applications, dealing with applicants and other stakeholders, and the research and retrieval of historical records.

The successful applicant will be educated to degree level or have extensive, relevant experience. You will have good administrative skills and experience, a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access with good keyboard skills. Experience of working with QUBE or IDOX would be an advantage. You must also be able to work unsupervised and on your own initiative.

Excellent communication skills are essential for dealing with enquiries from the public, applicants, and external and internal consultees. An ability to interpret technical drawings and documents would be desirable.
