Job Description

This position attracts a further 15% Shift Allowance, 10% Operational Allowance

The Port of London Authority (PLA) is responsible for 95 miles of the River Thames from the Estuary to Teddington Lock in West London. We work to keep river users safe, protect and enhance the environment and promote the use of the river for trade and travel.

We are looking for a Driver to collect and deliver the PLA’s Marine Pilots from either their base station to the PLA’s pilot stations or independent berths within the undertaking of the PLA whilst being safe and responsible, and adhering to the traffic laws and Highway Code at all times.

The successful candidate will have a full and clean UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points. We are looking for an excellent Driver with experience of undertaking professional driving duties carrying passengers. You will be required to drive regularly in varied environments and at different times of the day.

As a PLA Driver you will be a confident person with good communication, interpersonal and customer service skills who enjoys working and dealing with people. Enthusiastic, reliable and flexible in your approach to work, you will work a 35 hour week covering an 8 hour shift.

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months, based in Gravesend, Kent.
