Department: Health, Safety and Wellbeing
Reporting to: Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor
Grade: 7
Starting Salary: £45,189 per annum
Base: Gravesend, Kent
Who we are:
We are the UK’s biggest port, central to the country’s economy and ambitions for growth. We connect the UK to the world, but we are much more than a conventional port.
We are driven by our purpose to protect and improve the 95 mile stretch of the River Thames which is tidal – from Teddington Lock on the border of Surrey, through the heart of London, Kent, Essex and out to the North Sea.
The role:
We’re looking for an experienced and passionate advisor to join our dynamic Health, Safety, and Wellbeing team. If you’re dedicated to making a real impact and helping create a safe, healthy, and supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you!
In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring we meet all Health, Safety, and Wellbeing requirements, offering expert advice and guidance to departmental managers, safety representatives, and staff across the organisation. You’ll be involved in exciting Health, Safety, and Wellbeing projects and campaigns, so teamwork and attention to detail is crucial.
As an advisor, your strong communication skills will be essential. You’ll be able to engage with stakeholders tactfully, maintain confidentiality, and foster strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues at all levels.
If you’re someone who thrives in a supportive team environment and enjoys contributing to a culture of care, we encourage you to apply and make a difference with us.
In addition, you will meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrable experience in a Health, Safety and Wellbeing role (ideally in a high-risk environment)
- Membership of IOSH or equivalent
- NEBOSH General certificate (NVQ Level 4)
- Internal auditing experience
- CDM Awareness
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001
- Hold a full clean driving licence
In return, we offer a competitive benefits package:
- 28 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
- Health Cash Plan (Westfield Health)
- Generous pension scheme
- Access to Occupational Health, Mindfulness, Counselling and Physiotherapy
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Access to MyGymDiscounts
- Salary sacrifice Car Scheme
