Mate – Thames Sailing Barge Gladys

Job Description

A Mate required to start mid-April for vessel familiarisation and vessel delivery from Gloucester Docks to London. Then for final crew training and shakedown voyages prior to sailing season starting Mid-May.

Gladys is a 1901 Thames Sailing Barge, just finishing a 3 year full restoration. The vessel operates high-end passenger River Thames cruises for up to 20 passengers and is based in St. Katherine’s Docks.

Sailing season is until October, then rig removed for winter maintenance work.

You will have an ENG1 or ML5 medical and have the basic safety training package, but if not the safety training will be provided. Excellent deck skills is a must as the vessel will be on & off of piers and in & out of locks in strong tides, so someone good deck work skills is key to this role.

Good rates of pay commensurate with qualifications held and experience.
