Job Description

Cory is one of the UK’s leading waste management and recycling companies.

Cory operates one of the largest energy from waste facilities in the United Kingdom, with a unique river-based infrastructure on the Thames for delivering waste.

Cory is planning to invest more than £900 million in its operations and river infrastructure over the coming years. This includes the Riverside 2 energy from waste facility which is currently being built next to the company’s existing energy from waste facility in Belvedere.

We are currently recruiting for a Transfer Station Supervisor to work across our London Transfer Stations, providing cover support where necessary to suit operational requirements. The role holder will provide a key role that directly contributes to the daily working and smooth running of one of our Transfer Stations, through supervision of operational staff on a day-to-day basis within the guidelines laid down by the Transfer Station Manager. The role holder will be expected to ensure the efficiency and productivity of the operations are not impaired.

Job description:

  • Ensuring the Transfer Station is compliant with current legislation
  • Ensuring the Transfer Station is compliant with environmental legislation
  • Maintain health, safety, and security of the Transfer Station
  • Ensuring the Maintenance department is working efficiently
  • Managing the process of received waste
  • Supervising operations
  • Internal and external communication and documentation

Job requirements

The individual we are looking for will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • First-class organisational skills
  • Experience supervising an operational team
  • Educated to GCSE level equivalent or higher
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of current EA & HSE Legislation
  • Ability to use and interpret technical data
  • Experienced in providing excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge or an interest in recycling
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to work across all of our London Transfer Stations as required, sometimes at short notice

Working Hours

You must be able to work shifts as required – occasional overtime is also available
