Cory operates the Transfer Station at Northumberland Wharf in addition to its existing Transfer Stations operated on behalf of the Western Riverside Waste Authority in the borough of Wandsworth, the City of London at Walbrook Wharf in London, and Barking.
We are currently recruiting for an operative to add to the team at Northumberland Wharf. The role holder will provide an important role that directly contributes to the daily working and smooth running of the Transfer Station and occasionally on the Reuse and Recycling centre (RRC) through various operational duties and responsibilities.
The Role
- To work as part of team of operatives processing household and commercial waste
- To comply with all health & safety, contractual and operational requirements at the site
- To be able to drive cranes and operate machinery or to be prepared to work towards gaining new skills in operating mobile and fixed plant
- To ensure the Transfer Station or RRC is kept in a clean and tidy condition
- To carry out duties so as to prevent the issuing of complaints from local residents or the public
Job requirements
The Person
The individual we are looking for will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:
- Previous experience of working at a Transfer Station and RRC would be an advantage but is not essential
- Willing to work weekends – this role includes scheduled Saturday and Sunday shifts
- Willing to work Shifts
- Good communication skills
- Flexible approach
Additional Information
- The role is based on the following shift pattern:
- Week 1 – 06:00 to 14:00
- Week 2 – 14:00 to 22:00
- Week 3 – 06:00 to 14:00 – including working Saturday and Sunday – 08:00 to 18:00
- Starting rate from £13.28 to £14.08 per hour, depending on skill
- Overtime rates:
- Monday to Friday – time plus a third
- Saturday – time plus a half
- Sunday – double pay
- Bank holiday – double pay + 1 day in lieu (all must be worked)
